Construction work on new factory in Perl-Besch, Saarland, to begin in second half of 2024
Dillingen, Germany – Waste tire recycler Pyrum Innovations AG has received the approval of the local council in Perl-Besch, Saarland, Germany, for the construction of its second plant in the region.
Construction work on the facility is set to start in the second half of the year, with completion scheduled for end of 2025, Pyrum announced 8 Feb.
The new facility will be modelled on Pyrum’s existing plant in Dillingen/Saar, with a capacity of to process 20 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of end-of-life tires (ELTs).
According to CEO Pascal Klein, the company has already ordered the first system components “with notoriously long delivery times” for construction to begin later this year.
Pyrum announced its plans to build a second German facility in February last year, having selected Homburg, Saarland, as its location.
However, while preparing the authorisation documents, the company said it realised that water-protection requirements for the site would lead to “considerable additional investment”.
Due to the extra costs, Pyrum announced in November that it was changing the location to “an alternative, logistically ideally located site”. (ERJ report)
