PLANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
Arkanxeo is debottlenecking its HNBR production plants in Leverkusen, Germany and Orange, Texas by the yearend: adding "close to 1,000 tons" of new capacity.
General Science investing Yuan881m (€112m) to add capacity to produce 6m units/yr of passenger car tires at Wuxi, China site, which currently has capacity to produce 10m truck & bus tires a year.
Michelin is to close its production sites in Karlsruhe (5,000 units/day, 479 employees) and Trier (PCR bead cores, 88 employees) as well as its new truck tire and semi-finished production ops in Homburg (4,000 units / day, 843 employees), with the loss of 1,410 jobs.
Michelin is to relocate its customer contact centre for Germany, Austria and Switzerland from Karlsruhe to Poland by the end of 2025, affecting 122 jobs.

Natural rubber (NR) futures closed the trading week ended 24 Nov with mixed results, including more pronounced selling on RSS3 than TSR20 grades.

SUSTAINABILITY
Nokian reported a CO2 emissions level of 420kg per tonne of tires produced in 2022 – compared, it said, to equivalent figures of between 700kg and 1,100kg reported by most other tire makers.
