Ningbo, China – China’s Zhongzhe Group has broken ground on a Yuan3-billion (€400 million) project to build a synthetic rubber plant in the eastern Chinese port of Ningbo.
The unit is designed to produce 200 kilotonnes per annum of solution styrene-butadiene rubber and low-cis butadiene rubber, it announced 2 Jan.
The facility is intended to supply materials to meet local demand for the production of “high-performance green tires for new energy vehicles.”
Under a partnership, Chinese Academy of Engineering is to support the development of environmentally friendly synthetic rubber to substitute imports, added the statement.
Zhongzhe Group has also signed a contract with Beijing University of Chemical Technology for further enhancement of R&D in the field of synthetic rubbers.
