Chinese tire cord manufacturer targets ‘green transformation’ through digital technology
Shanghai, China – Steel tire cord manufacturer Xingda has set out its sustainability goals to 2030 during a recently held global company forum.
As part of its strategy, Xingda aims to facilitate the introduction of 'green' and low-carbon transformation with digitalisation and intelligent manufacturing technologies.
Based on goals set out at the event, the Chinese tire cord maker aims to produce more than 40% of its products with recycled steel.
To this end, the manufacturer will complete a feasibility study focused on recycling steel wires from end-of-life tires.
Furthermore, Xingda is to increase the share of 'high-performance products' to over 60% of total sales volume; and work with upstream and downstream partners to develop new technologies.
In terms of energy-consumption and carbon emissions, Xinga aims to install 200MW capacity of photovoltaic panels by 2030, generating 200 million kWHs of electricity annually.
This energy, it said, will be sufficient for heat supply for all of the company’s production processes.
In the meantime, Xingda’s aims to reduce energy consumption per unit of product by 26% compared with 2020, and carbon emissions by 42%.
