Komaki City, Japan – Sumitomo Riko Co. is building a new manufacturing plant in Komaki City, Aichi prefecture to optimise its production of rubber parts in Japan.
The project is being led by Sumitomo Riko’s 'chemical products' unit, which largely supplies antivibration systems for railway vehicles and bearings for bridges.
The business also manufactures seismic control systems for earthquake protection as well as window profiles and thermal insulation parts.
Sumitomo Riko aims to start operations at the Yen2.7 billion (€16.5 million) site by the end of 2024, according to its 28 Nov announcement.
Once constructed, the group’s current 'chemical products' factory as well as related manufacturing operations are to be consolidated into the new site.
The total factory floor will span 6,600 square metres, to be built in an area of 162,000 square metres.
