Beaver to more than double scale of current reinforcement manufacturing facility in Mexico
Mansfield, Georgia – Beaver Manufacturing Co., a supplier of technical fibres for tire and hose reinforcement, has announced plans for a “major expansion” at its production site in Tepeii del Rio, Mexico.
The project will expand the plant by 67,000 square feet – more than double the existing area of 55,000 – and increase the capacity for ‘fibre-twisting’ by 33%, Beaver announced 27 Nov.
As part of the project, the US-based manufacturer is taking over and renovating a vacated space adjacent to the current facility, which has been operational since June 2018.
In addition to renovating the space to meet the needs of production, the company will invest in new equipment for its fibre twisting and treating operation.
The upgraded facility will be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2024, according to the company announcement.
“This expansion is necessary to continue to service and grow our business in Mexico and South America, as well as supporting our US business,” said Mike Dubin, president & CEO.
The project will add equipment for the production Beaverloc adhesive-treated fibres as well as RFL treating technologies, acquired in 2020 through the purchase of Intercord Thuringen GmbH of Germany (ERJ report).
The new technologies, according to Dubin, will enable the production of “single-end soft cords” for the automotive and industrial markets.
In addition, the company will explore opportunities to grow business and expand into other markets, he added.
The investment will also include expanded lab capabilities for product testing and development as well as additional warehouse space.
With the move, the Mexico facility will increase its workforce from 30 to 60 employees, led by Enrique Quirarte, general manager of Mexico and South America.
