Leading-edge designs and applications showing how elastomer materials contribute to all aspects of life and lifestyle in the 21st century:
German rail and bus door systems supplier Huebner is tapping silicones to protect passengers from closing doors. In addition to passenger safety, the materials, offer “completely new possibilities” when used on the main closing edge, including a wide temperature range that allows the profiles to function even in "extreme environments".
In addition, the material enables the integration of Huebner’s Sens IQ touchless system into the finger protection profile of a sliding door. The system uses a contactless light grid to ensure that people and objects are not trapped in the closing door. As soon as an object or a passenger interrupts the light curtain, the door opens again or is held open.
