Conti appoints Gerd Bartels to lead speciality tires unit

Unit serves variety of industrial applications, as well as two-wheeler and racing tires
Hanover, Germany – Continental AG has named Gerd Bartels as head of speciality tires business area effective 1 Nov.
Bartels's role covers tire solutions for a variety of industrial applications as well as for two-wheeler and racing tires, Continental announced 8 Nov.
He will replace Wolfgang Thomale, recently appointed to lead ContiTech's 'surface solutions' unit, and will report directly to head of Tires group Christian Koetz.
Bartels joined Continental in 1994 and holds a degree in business administration. He has held management positions at plant level as well as in the OE and tire replacement businesses.
He was most recently responsible for the replacement business for passenger car and commercial vehicle tires in the EMEA region.
Continental’s speciality tires business area pools activities in agricultural, earth-moving and port vehicle tires as well as material-handling, bicycle, motorcycle and racing tires.
In its Vision 2030 strategy programme, Continental has named ‘speciality tires’ as a strategic growth area within for its Tires business.
