BPF online event to cover range of subjects including machine efficiency, materials, pricing
London - The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is holding an online event to explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the polymer industry.
The seminar will take place 16 Nov to study the influence of AI on the polymer industry: from improving manufacturing through to waste-management.
AI is going to have “a positive impact” on the polymer industry as the technology further evolves over the next decade, said Nigel Flowers, BPF president and MD of Sumitomo Demag.
“It provides many opportunities for manufacturers, waste management companies and recyclers to optimise their processes, increasing efficiency and profitability,” Flowers added in a 3 Nov BPF release.
The programme will include presentations by:
Thomas Hutterer, head of smart service, Engel:AI embedded in Engel’s control systems and how it is used to pinpoint maintenance requirements.
Ryan Gaffikin, associate at Dentons Global Advisers: The UK and EU regulatory landscape in relation to AI.
Andreas Faath, MD, VDMA machine information interoperability: Challenges around creating a “real-time model of the shopfloor.”
Iain Smith, MD, Fisher Smith: Case study about using AI and the practicalities of working with the technology.
Stephen Butler, co-founder and CCO, ChAI: Use of AI to predict polymer prices.
Sarah Foster, chief revenue officer, Greyparrot: Using an AI-powered waste-analytics system.
Christophe Parrot, head of sales, Recycleye: Sorting technology using AI.
James Doherty, co-founder of Plastic-i: Using AI to understand fugitive plastic waste and its future plans.
