Sustainable NR platform looks to develop ‘assurance model’ to ensure adherence to commitments
Singapore – The Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) reported a series of ‘milestone achievements’ during its fifth annual general assembly held in Singapore 25 Oct.
Among other developments, the platform achieved a 10% increase in membership compared to the previous year, said a GPSNR announcement 31 Oct.
Members also voted in favour for five resolutions, two of which were key proposals: aimed at enhancing transparency and assurance across NR supply-chains.
The resolution on transparency, said GPSNR, aims to simplify data-aggregation and enhance evaluation of progress on a year-on-year basis.
Meanwhile, GPSNR said its ‘assurance model’ will be designed to validate member companies' adherence to their commitments within an agreed timeline.
The next developments, said the platform, will involve “aligning [the model] with current documents, implementing new processes, and initiating pilot tests.”
The assurance model will then be put for a final approval at next year’s general assembly, according to Singapore-based GPSNR.
The general assembly also highlighted the importance of “engagement of every GPSNR member, partner, and stakeholder” to achieve sustainability in the NR supply-chain.
“Through consistent member involvement, GPSNR reaffirms its pragmatic and unwavering approach to addressing the industry’s challenges,” the organisation concluded.
