Start of production “imminent” at German tire recycling facility
Dillingen, Germany – Pyrum Innovation AG expects to start up two additional waste tire processing lines at its flagship pyrolysis plant in Dillingen, Saar, the company has announced.
The start-up has completed “warm commissioning” of a second and third reactor at the site and expects first oil-production from the lines “soon”, it stated 10 Oct.
The German company has also gained the green light from local authorities for “imminent production” at the end-of-life tire pyrolysis plant.
“In the last few weeks, cold commissioning was completed and all parts were calibrated and tested,” said the tire recycler.
Pyrum has also tested “automatic operation” of the site for the last few weeks and completed staff training.
“The system is filled with all media, the leak-test has been carried out and is ready for production,” the company added.
Once kicked off, Pyrum expects the throughput of Line 2 to be gradually increased to 75% and Line 3 to be ramped up to 75% throughput “as quickly as possible”.
Both lines will then be gradually ramped up to 100% together.
Pyrum said it intended to carry out the entire process “as quickly as possible”, but noted that it could take “several months”.
“We are now in the final stages of expanding our site in Dillingen, tripling our capacity to 20,000 tons of used tires per year,” said CEO Pascal Klein.
At the same time, he added, work on Pyrum's six additional sites is “progressing rapidly”.
