US: Rogers Corp. has announced that chief financial officer Ram Mayampurath has resigned “to pursue another opportunity.” Effective 12 Aug Laura Russell will assume the role of interim CFO but Mayampurath will remain with Rogers through September to ensure “orderly transition.” Russell joined Rogers last September as VP finance and previously served in senior finance roles at Wolfspeed and NXP Semiconductors.
US: Hexpol Compounding Americas (HCA) has appointed Mark Ramsey as its chief procurement officer and member of its executive leadership team with effect from 12 Aug. He replaces Ellen Clunk, who left the company in early August. With over 25 years of procurement and supply chain experience, Ramsey joins HCA from Avon Protection Services in Cadillac, Michigan, where he served as purchasing director in both North America and the UK, and most recently as vice president of global sourcing and supply chain for the North America region. Ramsey holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Chippenham Technical College in Wiltshire, UK.
UK: Synthomer plc has recently announced several updates relating to the composition of its board, as part of the UK polymer group’s succession planning. Peter Hill has been appointed as an independent non-executive director and chair designate with effect from 1 Sept. On 1 January 2025, Hill will then replace current chair Caroline Johnstone, who is standing down from the board. Read more
US: Goodyear has named Mamatha Chamarthi as SVP and chief digital officer, and Will Roland as SVP and chief marketing officer, both reporting to CEO and president Mark Stewart, effective 1 Aug. Chamarthi previously served as chief software business growth officer and chief information and digital for Stellantis. In this new role, she will oversee all aspects of digital businesses, in addition to traditional CIO responsibilities. Chamarthi will also “establish and execute a comprehensive digital strategy, encompassing solutions for products, plants, services, and processes.” Roland was previously SVP media, consumers, analytics and digital for Stellantis North America. As CMO, he will steer Goodyear's brand and marketing strategies, driving top line actions and brand optimisation initiatives.
FINLAND: Nokian Tyres plc has appointed Paolo Pompei as president and CEO with effect from 1 January 2025, the Finnish tire group has announced. Pompei will replace current president and CEO Jukka Moisio, who in March announced his intention to retire. Pompei, said Nokian, has strong experience in the tire industry, including from his latest role as president of Yokohama TWS, formerly Trelleborg Wheel Systems, since 2017. Prior to that, he held several leadership positions in the Trelleborg Group, including president of its agricultural tires unit, having also worked at Pirelli earlier in his career. A board member at the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association, Pompei holds a degree in economics and MSc in international trade. Read more
GERMANY: Egemen Atis took over as head of strategy, analysis and marketing (SAM) for Continental’s EMEA tire replacement business on 1 July. He moves from Seoul, where he was responsible for the group’s Korean OE business – serving customers Hyundai and Kia – to Continental's headquarters in Hanover. Prior to his work in South Korea, Atis was head of sales and head of commercial operations tires for Continental in Türkiye for six years.
GERMANY : Evonik has named Guido Skudlarek president of its North America region effective 1 June. Bonnie Tully, who led the region since 2020, becomes chief operations officer for North America, focusing on the region’s broad footprint of production sites and new business developments. The two new leaders will help “next phase of our growth trajectory in the US, Canada, and Mexico.”
CHINA: Continental Tires (China) Co. has appointed Tang Mingyou to the position of general manager, effective 8 July. Previously national sales director of Continental Tires China, he joined Continental Tire in 2007 and has nearly 20 years of “practical experience in local industry operations and management.” He has been responsible for the truck and bus tire and passenger car tire replacement market-related businesses of Continental Tire. Véronique Giraud, the former general manager of China, will serve as the general manager of Continental Tires France. Read more
Japan: Goodyear has named company veteran Ramy Elsabee as president and CEO of its Japan operations, effective 1 July. Elsabi joined Goodyear in 2006 at its headquarters in Akron, Ohio, and has served in “a wide range of management positions” at the company over the years, according to the US tire maker. Read more
GERMANY: In July, Continental AG appointed Olaf Schick as its new CFO, while maintaining his previous position as head of group’s ‘integrity & law’ functions. CEO Nikolai Setzer will take charge of group's IT activities, currently part of the finance function. Schick succeeds Katja Garcia Vila, who announced in March that she would not be seeking another term on the executive board. Schick has been Continental’s board member for integrity and law since May 2023. Prior to that, he was CFO of Mercedes-Benz Group China and chief compliance officer at Daimler AG.
AUSTRIA: Semperit Group’s executive board chairman and CEO Karl Haider will not extend his term when it expires 31 March 2025, the Austrian group announced in June. Haider was appointed to the Semperit executive board in January 2022, having prior to that served as chief commercial officer at Tata Steel Europe. He will continue to serve as the chairman of the executive board until the end of his current mandate. During his tenure at Semperit, Haider oversaw the divestment of the group’s medical gloves unit and moves to increase its focus on industrial markets. Semperit said it started the search for a successor to Haider “immediately.”
US: Cooper Standard has appointed Shannon Quinn as president of its ‘industrial and speciality group’, replacing Ramsey Changoo who is departing the company. Quinn most recently served as VP, chief commercial and strategy officer at Cooper Standard. She was previously president, consumer OE North America for Bridgestone Corp, from 2017 to 2022, and held senior roles at Adient and its predecessor Johnson Controls, serving as VP, Ford business unit. Quinn also held strategic commercial positions with Visteon Corp., having started her career as a product engineer at Ford Motor Co. in 1991.
US: Monolith has recently promoted Kelsey Roste to vice president, decarbonized solutions – a role established to help lead customer sustainability engagement. Roste has gained “proven results and leadership during her tenure at Monolith thus far,” said the producer of 'clean' carbon black and hydrogen. Prior to Monolith, she worked in the energy, renewables, power and infrastructure sectors. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in economics and mathematics.
US: Sealing systems maker Greene Tweed has appointed Shawn McCloskey as chief commercial officer. McCloskey brings more than 16 years of “cross-functional leadership”, having served in various positions in operations, business, and commercial functions in the industry. McCloskey started his career with Celanese and moved on to DuPont and its spin-off Chemours, where he served in several leadership positions for 12 years.
UK: Smithers has appointed Phil Hall as principal consultant – rubber and elastomers, within its polymer consultancy team. Hall brings a “diverse industrial background and extensive technical experience” to the role. Based at Smithers’ Shropshire, UK facilities, He has 30 years of rubber and elastomeric materials experience within aerospace and defence, automotive and general manufacturing.
US: Goodyear has appointed Nicole Gray as senior vice president and chief human resources officer, effective 1 July. She will replace Gary VanderLind who announced his retirement in May. Gray joined Goodyear in 2016 to lead the group’s global labour and employment team. She has since moved to senior human resources leadership roles.
India: Apollo Tyre’s president of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa region Satish Sharma retired in June, also stepping down from his position as a ‘wholetime director’ of the group's board. The Indian tire maker has since appointed chief financial officer Gaurav Kumar as ‘wholetime director’.
US: Engine product and drive systems supplier Dayco has undergone major organisational changes, having introduced a new senior leadership team and relocated its headquarters from Troy, Michigan to Birmingham in the same state. The appointments follow the 2020 acquisition of the automotive supplier by Hidden Harbor Capital Partners, which has been focused on building “a global leadership team” to deliver long-term growth.
