Will replace current president and CEO Jukka Moisio at the start of next year
Nokia, Finland – Nokian Tyres plc has appointed Paolo Pompei as president and CEO with effect from 1 January 2025, the Finnish tire group has announced
Current president and CEO Jukka Moisio, who in March announced his intention to retire, will continue to lead Nokian until then, said the group’s 20 July announcement.
Pompei, it said, has strong experience in the tire industry, including from his latest role as president of Yokohama TWS, formerly Trelleborg Wheel Systems, since 2017.
Prior to that, he held several leadership positions in the Trelleborg Group, including president of its agricultural tires unit, having also worked at Pirelli earlier in his career.
A board member at the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association, Pompei holds a degree in economics and MSc in international trade, continued Nokian’s announcement.
“Pompei has very strong international experience from the tire industry, delivering continuous growth and strong financial performance in his earlier positions,” said Jukka Hienonen, chair of Nokian Tyres’ board of directors.
“He also has a deep understanding of the markets in Central Europe and North America, which are the key growth markets for Nokian Tyres,” added Hienonen.
Expressing appreciation to Moisio, the chairman said the current president and CEO had guided Nokian “during Covid-19 and through the consequences of the war in Ukraine, developing Nokian Tyres toward new growth.”
