Nova Motorsport becomes global supplier of “vast majority" of Avon Motorsport tire products
Holt, UK – Nova Motorsport, a recently created UK company specialised in racing tires, has acquired assets, including the brand license, for the manufacture and sale of racing tires under the names “Avon Motorsport” and “Avon Racing”.
With the acquisition from Goodyear, the Holt-headquartered company will become the “global supplier of the vast majority” of such products, said Nova Motorsport in a statement 27 Feb.
The assets were formerly acquired by Goodyear as part of the Akron, Ohio-based tire maker's purchase of Cooper Tire in 2021. (ERJ report)
Through the deal, Nova Motorsport said it had “secured all residual stock from the Cooper Tire & Rubber to deliver consistent service and supply.”
In addition, Nova Motorsport aims to set up new product lines for an extended range scheduled to be introduced in the second half of 2024.
Nova Motorsport's plans will be supported by an in-house R&D department comprising a newly formed team of industry experts.
“Leveraging these valuable assets we will proudly continue the legend with the vast majority of the Avon Motorsport range of tire products,” said Paul Hallas, company founder and MD of parent company SPC Group.
Nova Motorsport, Hallas added, will “innovate with new offerings”, using its long-established expertise in rubber compounding at SPC Group.
The new business, Hallas went on to say, will benefit from “a recognised product and ready global reach through agents around the world.”
“This will help us to swiftly establish our presence as a ‘new brand with heritage’ in the industry,” he added.
Nova Motorsport went on to say that it would share more information about its future vision in the coming weeks.
Established in January (ERJ report), the brand's aims “to be the number one choice for specialist high-performance, low-volume automotive manufacturers, connoisseurs, and private collectors.”
