Developed in collaboration with insurance groups Generali GC&C and Aon, initiative focuses on training, health and safety
Milan, Italy – Pirelli, in collaboration with insurance groups Generali GC&C Italy and Aon, has signed an insurance agreement linked to the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Developed by Pirelli and Generali, and supported by Aon, the deal is based on the tire maker’s achieving specific targets aligned to SDGs 3 and 8, related to product and occupational health and safety matters.
The key performance indicators (KPI) to be measured will primarily target employee training, maintenance of quality, health, safety and environmental certifications, said Pirelli 20 Feb.
Additionally, specific accreditations of certain Pirelli R&D laboratories and tire performance in terms of wet grip will be assessed.
Among the KPIs included in the agreement is “the affirmation of Pirelli’s position as one of the leading companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index,” the tire maker added.
The initiative, part of a multi-year partnership between three companies, currently covers the policies led by Generali concerning Italian employers liability, as well as the recall and general liability policies.
The agreement “underscores Pirelli's ability to integrate a responsible approach into all its business activities, including risk management,” said Vincenzo De Cesaris, Pirelli head of finance.
Aligned with the UN SDG guidelines, the will aim to achieve “continuous improvement of employee and product-related health and safety initiatives,” he added.
