Portfolio based on requirements of revised BfR recommendation XXI, particularly for process-related impurities
Waldkraiburg, Germany - Elastomer compounds manufacturer Gummiwerk Kraiburg GmbH & Co. KG, is introducing a range of materials developed specifically for use in the food industry.
The portfolio is based on the requirements of revised BfR Recommendation XXI*, particularly for handling process-related impurities using internationally recognised scientific principles.
In response to these changes, Kraiburg said it has evaluated and assessed its production processes in close cooperation with an accredited testing institute.
The outcome is a “streamlined and well-assorted” portfolio based on NR, NBR and EPDM, in hardnesses ranging from 35 Shore A to 85 Shore A, that comply with the revised regulations.
The “diversified portfolio” is suitable for a wide range of applications and includes both black and coloured compounds.
*BfR Recommendation XXI is a set of guidelines for commodities based on natural and synthetic rubber issued by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment Risikobewertung, BfR).
The recommendation specifically addresses the evaluation and handling of materials in contact with food: assessing the safety of substances that may migrate from these materials into food.
