Enhanced collaboration focused on digitalisation of tire maker's manufacturing processes
Paris – Rockwell Automation Inc. and Michelin have recently “strengthened” a collaboration with focused on the digitalisation of the French tire maker's manufacturing processes.
Expanding a link-up spanning three decades, the “new step signifies a strategic evolution from traditional automation to a digital-focused effort,” said a Rockwell announcement.
This, it said, will include digitalisation of traditional manufacturing equipment and integrating advanced analytics and data science tools at the operational and plant levels.
Another aspect is the utilisation of a “wider partner ecosystem, including Kalypso, a Rockwell Automation business,” the statement added.
The collaboration also covers joint efforts in prototyping and testing towards enhancing the efficiency of R&D initiatives.
This new step is a testament to our evolving relationship with Michelin, according to Frank Kulaszewicz, senior vice president, Rockwell Automation.
“It marks a new chapter in our journey, deepening our commitment to Michelin's digital transformation in machine automation, " added Kulaszewicz.
For Michelin, manufacturing engineering vice president Nicolas Jaunet said the goal is to “fast-track our digitalisation strategies through this sustainable innovation collaboration."
"Our combined expertise will accelerate our manufacturing to scale up innovation through smart technology while creating greater people skills and a more attractive work environment."
