Goodyear confirms employee fatality at US tire plant

Investigations into fatal incident at Arkansas facility as well as tragic event on German test track
London – Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has confirmed the death of a US tire plant worker on 27 July – the third work-related fatality among its employees within the space of just two weeks.
Few details were provided about incident at Goodyear’s Texarkana, Arkansas facility, which is being investigated by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
“We are deeply saddened that one of our associates passed away on July 27, following an injury that occurred at Goodyear’s Texarkana facility,” the group stated.
“We have reported the incident to OSHA and are cooperating with its investigation, Goodyear added in statement supplied 18 Aug to ERJ.
In its brief statement about the Goodyear fatality, OSHA commented: “We can confirm OSHA investigating. More details will be available after the investigation is complete.”
Goodyear is also assisting investigations into an incident on 9 Aug in which two Luxembourg-based employees died at the Nurburgring test track in Germany (ERJ report).
