UK Trade Remedies Agency to initiate ‘transition review’ says not impacted by EU court annulment
London – Anti-dumping and countervailing duties on Chinese truck and bus tires will continue in the UK, despite a 4 May judgement by the European General Court to annul the tariffs.
In a written statement to ERJ, the UK Trade Remedies Agency said the decision by the European court did not apply in the UK, due to the country’s exit from the European Union.
“Anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures on Chinese tires are set to expire at the end of 2023,” the UK government agency explained in its 14 June reply to ERJ's enquiry.
However, the Trade Remedies Agency said will initiate a “transition review” before the measures expire to assess if they are still suitable for UK markets.
“This review will decide whether these measures should be kept, adjusted or revoked,” it added, without providing a timeline for the review.
Last month, the European General Court ruled that EU anti-dumping and countervailing duties imposed on imports of truck and bus tires from China in 2018 should be annulled.
