New Delhi – Epsilon Carbon has launched a new sustainable carbon black product line derived from end-of-life tires (ELTs).
Developed over 24 months, Terrablack uses recovered carbon black (rCB) and tire-derived oil (TDO) from waste tires and is suitable for applications in both tire and non-tire industries, Epsilon said 21 Jan.
The portfolio includes Terrablack 3310, engineered for heavy-duty applications like tire treads, offering high wear resistance and durability.
Terrablack 6615 offers flexibility and resilience and is suitable for tire sidewalls, hoses, belts, and sealing systems.
Both products are formulated to compliment traditional virgin carbon black, with Terrablack lowering the ‘global warming potential’ by up to “40-50%”.
To further advance its sustainability commitment, Epsilon said it is building a fully integrated waste tire recycling plant in Karnataka, in southern India to be operational by fiscal year 2026.
The facility will recycle 30 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) of ELTs, generating 9.5ktpa of rCB and 12 ktpa of TDO.
