Finnish tire and car service specialist says changes in response to ‘market and demand situation’
Nokia, Finland – Vianor Oy, the tire and car service arm of Nokian Tyres, has announced temporary and permanent lay-offs as well as service point closures to address declining demand.
Following two-month-long change negotiations with its Finnish personnel, Vianor announced on 20 Jan that it was temporarily laying off 450 people for a maximum of 90 days per person during 2025.
These include employees at service points, retreading factories, and the OE assembly line.
In addition, Vianor said it was ending the employment contracts of 16 employees, a number that it said was half the estimated figure at the beginning of the negotiations.
Following the change negotiations and earlier measures, Vianor's own service points will decrease by three to 54 in Finland.
The aim of the change negotiations, according to Vianor, was to “adapt operations to the market and demand situation and to improve profitability.”
Vianor is claimed to be “the largest tire and car service chain in the Nordics” with 174 own service centres and a partner network in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
In 2023, the company generated net sales of €344 million.
