Plant in Newnan, Georgia set to boost growth in the industrial sector
Vienna – Semperit Group has officially opened a manufacturing facility for rubber gaskets in the Newnan, Georgia, which will also serve as the Austrian polymer group’s new North America headquarters.
As part of the $10-million (€9.4 million) investment, Semperit moved its existing headquarters and distribution centre from Stone Mountain to Newnan within the state of Georgia.
Furthermore, the investment saw the addition of two new production lines for the manufacture of sealing components at the 14,000-square-metre site, Semperit announced 9 June.
Based in the Coweta County Industrial Park, the new plant has created 70 new jobs and is being supplied “entirely by renewable energy sources”.
The facility produces building facade seals, window gaskets, and road and bridge expansion joints, while offering distribution space for the full range of sealants, conveyor belts, and hose products.
“[I am] fully confident that investing in the ongoing growth of the Semperit Group within the world’s biggest economic region will be critical to our future success,” said CEO Karl Haider at the official opening ceremony 9 June.
“We are being driven by a market-led approach, focusing more on practical applications, and speeding up our product development processes,” he added.
The new facility was set for opening in November last year and according to Semperit has been in operation for a few months. The official opening was delayed due to Covid-19.
In its statement, Semperit said the move was in line with the strategy to grow in North America, where the Austrian group has been recording “impressive growth” in recent years.
“By shifting our focus to the local level, we’re in a much better position to respond to our customers’ ever-increasing needs with improved speed and efficiency,” said Irene Coughlin, managing director Americas.
“The new headquarters and production site will boost the efficiency of our operations, allowing us to manage our supply chains and logistics more effectively,” she added.
