Factory to have an annual capacity of nearly 8 million units of passenger car and truck & bus tires
Nanjing, China – China’s Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group has been awarded a contract to build a tire manufacturing plant in Cambodia, it announced 12 Dec.
According to the Nanjing, Jiangsu-based group, its ‘overseas business department' entered a successful bid to build the greenfield 190,000m2 factory.
The group's statement did not provide further details about the location of the plant or the tire manufacturer involved in the project.
However, it said that the factory would have annual capacity to produce nearly 8 million units of passenger car and truck & bus tires.
The project, it added, mainly includes the construction of a new tire plant warehouse, rubber mixing workshop, raw materials storage unit and outdoor supporting facilities.
While the identity of the tire manufacturer involved in the project was not revealed, recent ERJ reports point to a couple, at least, of potential candidates.
Currently, Chinese tire maker Shouguang Firemax is working on a €175-million project to build a facility in an undisclosed location in Cambodia.
The planned unit will have a capacity to produce 8 million passenger car radial tires and 1.2 million truck & bus radial tires once completed.
Wanli Tire, meanwhile, has yet to provide an update on reported feasibility studies on a $500-million tire factory project in Cambodia. (ERJ report)
