London-based start-up will offer electric vehicle tires at a discount to Uber drivers in UK and US
London: UK start-up company Enso has formed a “strategic partnership” with Uber for the use of its electric vehicle tires across the UK and US, said a joint press release from the companies.
Under the three-year deal, London-based Enso will offer discounted electric vehicle tires to Uber drivers via a dedicated ‘buyer’s club’, according to the press statement issued 1 Oct.
Our aim is “to help [Enso] grow while making it easier for Uber drivers to go electric around the world,” explained Jill Hazelbaker, CMO and SVP, communications & public policy at Uber.
“Our goal is to provide EV drivers with more affordable, energy-efficient, longer-lasting, and ultimately carbon-neutral tires,” added Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, founder and CEO of Enso.
According to the release, almost 30% of Uber’s miles are now fully electric in London, where it has built up a £145-million (€173 million) 'clean air fund' to help drivers go electric.
Enso recently announced ambitious plans to establish a $500-million tire factory in the US by 2027 – employing over 600 people and producing more than 5 million tires a year.
