Tires “fail to comply” with requirements of federal safety standards and do not provide sufficient traction
Washington - Prinx Chengshan Tire North America Inc. (PCTNA) is recalling nearly 550,000 tires in the US, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Produced at Prinx’s plant in Chonburi, Thailand, the tires “are labelled as snow tires, but do not have sufficient traction to perform in all snow weather conditions,” it stated
The snow tires, branded Fortune Tormenta and Prinx hiCountry, were produced between 24 Aug 2020 and 7 Dec 2024, noted the NHTSA's 17 Dec announcement.
The tires, added the US agency, “fail to comply” with the requirements of federal safety standards and therefore “can increase the risk of a crash.”
