Michelin North America president and CEO to hold position for a two-year term
Washington – The US Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) has elected Michelin executive Alexis Garcin as chairman of its board of directors for a two-year term, starting 11 Oct.
Currently the president and CEO of Michelin North America, Garcin succeeds Paolo Ferrari, president and CEO of Bridgestone Americas, who served as USTMA’s board chair since 2021.
Garcin brings “decades of global leadership experience to the helm of the US tire manufacturing industry”, said USTMA president and CEO Anne Forristall Luke 12 Oct.
Taking over at “a significant turning point for both tire safety and environmental sustainability,” he will build on the work of Ferrari, who saw USTMA through the post-Covid recovery period.
Garcin joined Michelin in 2002 and became chairman and president of Michelin North America in 2019, having previously served in various roles in France, Switzerland and Germany.
“Since joining the board four years ago, I have witnessed firsthand how the USTMA is driving progress toward a safe, sustainable and innovative tire industry,” said the Michelin official upon election.
USTMA also elected two new members to the board of directors: David Chapman of Michelin North America and James Tsai of Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas.
Chapman is currently VP of public affairs for Michelin North America, overseeing public policy efforts in both the US and Canada.
Tsai is general counsel and secretary of Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. He joined the company in 2011 and has served in his current role since 2016.
