Tire Tracker: Dunlop showcasing ‘active tread’ rubber technology

Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) is releasing its latest mobility developments, including its newly invented “active tread” technology at the Japan Mobility Show to be held 26 Oct to 5 Nov. Made with sustainable materials, the new tread is claimed to switch to “optimal performance” depending on the road conditions. Tapping SRI’s sensing core technology, active tread uses the tire as a “sensor” to visualise road conditions, the Japanese group announced without providing further details.
