Lawrence Industries to market materials destined for rubber, plastics sectors
Melton Mowbray, UK – UK producer of recovered carbon black (rCB) Waverly Carbon has appointed Lawrence Industries as its official distributor.
The company is claimed to be the UK’s “only manufacturer” of rCB, producing the materials from pyrolysed tire char sourced from third party pyrolysis operators, Waverly told ERJ in a statement 20 Sept.
The rCB, supplied in pelleted form, according to Waverly “closely matches” the characteristics of pelleted virgin carbon black and “satisfies the strict specifications” set by technical engineers.
Waverly does not operate an end-of-life tire processing facility, but develops rCB at its plant in Melton Mowbray, UK East Midlands.
The unit is currently rated at 3-4 kilotonnes per annum, according to Waverly.
The company began developing its solution in 2020 and started supplying the rCB to customers in the rubber, plastics and coatings industries last year.
The supplier aims to fully ramp up production with increased staffing investments this year.
