Italian tire maker concluding partnership as single supplier to World Rally Championship
Milan, Italy – Pirelli has not submitted its candidature to supply the FIA World Rally Championship from 2025-2027, the tire maker has announced.
As a result, the Italian group will conclude its partnership as a single supplier to the WRC in 2024, according to Pirelli's 16 Sept statement.
The Milan-based manufacturer said it had achieved the targets set three years ago at the start of the current contact – without explaining its decision to discontinue.
Present in more than 350 motorsport championships globally, Pirelli said it remained committed to rallying, and would continue to participate in all competitions it is currently involved in.
These include the FIA European Rally Championship, won this year by Hayden Paddon in a Pirelli-equipped Hyundai.
The ERC is organised by the same promoter as the WRC, with a number of different tire manufacturers taking part.
