PFAS: Time running out to submit feedback

25 Sept deadline for input on proposals that could lead to a ban on fluoroelastomers and other polymers
London – The deadline for submission of input to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) consultation on proposed restrictions on all per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) is fast approaching.
On 25 Sept, ECHA will stop accepting feedback on its proposals, which could lead to a ban on the use of all fluorochemical substances, including elastomers and other polymers (ERJ report).
Launched on 22 March, the six-month consultation is intended to assess the impact of proposed PFAS restrictions drawn up by ‘authorities’ in Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
Among those offering channels to help ensure the voice-of-industry is heard at ECHA level – and by EU lawmakers – is Chemours, which has set up a special Advocacy Portal.
