Asensbruk facility manufactures oil and carbon black from pyrolysis of end-of-life tires
Stockholm – Scandinavian Enviro Systems’ Asensbruk waste tire pyrolysis production facility has recently received a new certification in accordance with the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) scheme.
With the recognition, the facility now manufactures ISCC-certified recovered oil and carbon black (rCB) from the pyrolysis of end-of-life tires (ELTs).
This is the second time Enviro’s Asensbruk production facility gains the ISCC confirmation, having become the “world’s first” to obtain an ISCC certificate for rCB in 2021.
Certification for the recovered oil, Enviro said last month, will mean that fuel producers can commercialise the oil as 100% renewable using the mass-balance approach.
On the recovered-carbon side, according to Enviro, using rCB from Asensbruk can reduce CO2 emissions by 93% compared to using an equivalent amount of fossil-based carbon black.
