US seal maker Sur-Seal expands with new acquisition

Cincinnati, Ohio – US seals maker Sur-Seal has acquired Ameritape, a Florida-based company specialising in custom die cutting, slitting, laminating, and CNC cutting.
With the acquisition, Sur-Seal expects to expand engineering capabilities, including performance materials expertise and enhanced manufacturing techniques, said its 8 Aug announcement .
The two companies have “similar end-market exposure and competitive positioning” in the field of engineered material solutions, commented Sur-Seal CEO Dana Waterman.
In particular, she said, Sur-Seal expects to tap into Ameritape's expertise in growth markets such as aerospace, medical and renewable energy.
Additionally, the move will improve the seal supplier’s customer relationship in southern US regions.
Tom Whipple, former owner of Ameritape, will continue his activities as director of Sur-Seal Jacksonville.
Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sur-Seal supplies rubber and silicone-based gaskets and other sealing and filtering components.
With manufacturing & service centres in North Carolina, as well as in Mexico and China, Sur-Seal supplies to over 250 OEM customers in 25 countries.
The Ameritape acquisition follows Sur-Seal's purchase of Mueller, a North Carolina-based specialist in custom die-cutting, slitting, laminating and CNC cutting in May 2022.
