Tire tracker: Pirelli Scorpion for all-seasons

Pirelli has launched the new Scorpion MS high performance all-season tire created as OE for the latest generation of SUVs.  A product of the company’s ‘eco-safety design’ approach, the new tire is said to feature better grip in both wet and dry conditions, and reduces rolling resistance compared to previous models. It is also designed to meet requirements for long tire-life requirements in the US and for comfort is Asian markets. In total, 75% of all the OE Scorpion MS co-development projects feature Elect technology for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Other Pirelli technologies employed features include its Seal Inside anti-puncture system, Run Flat, which allows drivers to keep going even with zero tyre pressure – and a noise cancelling system. A new formulation of polymer and particular resins favour grip as well as wet and dry braking, while the sipes are designed to optimise performance on snow.
