South Korean major investing in new vulcanisation, tire-building equipment at Chongqing facility
Congqing, China – Hankook Tire is investing Yuan47 million (€6 million) to renovate its truck and bus (TBR) tire production line in Chongqing, China, the company has announced.
The project involves the ‘technical transformation of the TBR production line (phase I) at the existing workshop,' Hankook stated in an environmental impact assessment report.
Hankook said it will add one TBR tire building machine and seven hydraulic vulcanising machines to the originally installed production line.
The vulcanising equipment are to be installed in two stages – initially installing two machines, followed by the remaining five and a moulding machine.
Once completed, the investment will see TBR production at the site increase by 136,000 units per year to a total of 1.036 million units, according to the report.
The extra capacity is expected to generate an additional income of Yuan238 million per year, added the document dated 19 July.
