Global sustainable NR platform now features 24 rubber producers, processors and traders
Singapore – Thai natural rubber (NR) major Sri Trang has joined the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR) as its newest member in the 'producers, processors and traders' category.
Established in 1987, Sri Trang is a ‘fully integrated’ NR company with large-scale rubber plantations covering 7,000 hectares across 19 provinces of Thailand, said GPSNR 11 Aug.
The company, according to GPSNR, plays a significant role in the global NR market and its membership will bring ‘solid commitment’ to industry’s transition towards sustainability.
"Given the company’s scale and outreach, we look forward to their insights and contributions to important industry-wide processes on sustainable and equitable production,” said Stefano Savi, GPSNR director.
The company’s contribution, he went on to say, could particularly help GPSNR’s assurance model and shared investment mechanism.
"Joining GPSNR reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable practices in the natural rubber industry,” said Nattee Thiraputhbhokin, chief marketing officer, Sri Trang.
According to Thiraputhbhokin, Sri Trang has developed a “ground-breaking” sustainable NR ecosystem, which involves digitalisation.
“With traceability ingrained in every step, from rubber tree cultivation to the delivery of traceable products, the ecosystem sets a new standard for better accountability,” he added.
Presently, GPSNR has 290 members, including major tire makers as well as 24 rubber producers, traders and processors.
