Workers accept significantly increased offers at sites in Leicester, Tewkesbury, Bridgewater
London – Industrial disputes have ended at three Trelleborg AB plants in the UK, after workers accepted improved pay offers, trade union Unite has announced.
A strike by more than 100 workers at Trelleborg AB’s workers in Leicester was resolved following an improved pay deal, according to a Unite statement issued 25 July.
As part of the deal, the employees of the industrial antivibration solutions manufacturing site will receive an 8% cent pay rise backdated to April 2023, and a one-off payment of £750 (€875).
The two-year deal will see workers receive a 3% salary rise from April 2024, unless the consumer price index inflation is above 5%, in which case pay negotiations will be reopened.
All-out strike action, which began on 11 July, has now been cancelled, with work resuming as normal, according to Unite.
Agreement at the Leicester plant followed the resolution of disputes with workers at two other Trelleborg UK locations: at Tewkesbury and Bridgewater.
According to a separate Unite statement, more than 200 workers staged strikes earlier in June after rejecting a pay-rise offer of 5.2%.
Industrial action was ended after workers accepted a pay deal "worth at least 11%" over two years, Unite reported.
Workers at both locations are to receive an 8% pay rise this year, followed by a 3% increase next year, depending on inflation rate, the union explained.
