Marangoni, Ceat join forces to expand retreading in India
Partnership links Italian group's Ringtread technology with Ceat truck and bus tire offerings
Mumbai, India – Marangoni SpA and Ceat Ltd have entered a strategic partnership to expand tire retreading for truck & buses in the Indian market.
The partnership links with Marangoni’s strategy to build a franchisee network of retreaders dedicated to its Ringtread system in India, Marangoni said in a 26 July statement to ERJ.
As part of the strategy, Ceat’s fleet customers will have access to Marangoni’s retreading solutions, through the Italian machinery maker’s franchisees and via a “strong recommendation by Ceat”.
Furthermore, the partnership will combine Ceat’s “high quality” casings with Marangoni’s Ringtread technology to lower operating costs for fleet operators.
Under their agreement, the partners will also jointly raise “awareness and preference” for each other’s products and services.
A key aspect, Marangoni explained, will be to capture information about the performance of products in the market and to use that intelligence for further improvement.
“Retreading can provide great insights into tire-casing performance that can be used to increase reliability, leading to greater customer preference and loyalty,” Marangoni explained.
The partnership also envisages encouraging Ceat’s established channel partners to consider adding Marangoni’s retreading to their businesses.
The first such channel partner – Bharat Tyres Gujarat Pvt Ltd (BTGPL) – joined as a Marangoni Franchisee in April 2023, the Italian company noted.
BTGPL, according to Marangoni, is Ceat’s “largest channel partner worldwide” and a Ceat truck service hub.
The partners hope to see more truck service hubs become 'one-stop-shops', using Marangoni’s technology, while retreading franchisees promote Ceat tires as “the right choice”.
Based on this experience, the two companies also intend to explore common opportunities in other markets, according to Matthias Leppert, COO, Marangoni Group.
The link-up, added Lakshmi Narayanan chief marketing officer of Ceat, will ‘revolutionise the truck and bus tire industry’.
“Beyond profitability, the partnership also emphasises sustainability by extending tire life through advanced retreading techniques,” he added.
Marangoni’s Ringtread system offers a splice-less retreading process to extend tire life.
The company has already established a network of franchisees in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh in India.
