Facility in Chongqing to manufacture NVH products such as motor mounts, chassis mounts, and isolators & dampers
Chongqing, China – Vibracoustic has expanded its production of automotive noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) solutions with the opening of a new plant in China.
The “state-of-the-art” factory in Chongqing will strengthen Vibracoustic’s presence in China and help it meet the region's growing automotive demand, said the supplier in a 19 July statement.
Spanning an area of 16,400 square metres, the €22 million plant produces a range of NVH products, including motor mounts, chassis mounts, and isolators & dampers.
Offering a “substantial space for advanced manufacturing processes”, the unit currently employs 130 people.
At full capacity the site will employ some 650 people, said the manufacturer.
“With its vibrant automotive industry and remarkable growth, China has become an essential hub for innovation and advancement,” said the Vibracoustic statement.
With the new plant, it went on to say, “Vibracoustic demonstrates its strong commitment to serve its customers in this dynamic region.”
The new facility features a number of environmental as well as manufacturing advances, including “innovative operational practices”, emissions reduction and safe working environment.
Furthermore, it introduces “a water-based bonding production line” which cuts emissions during the manufacturing process.
The technology, Vibracoustic explained, replaces solvent-based processes which will help reduce emissions and allow for a safer production process for the employees.
In a separate move in China, Vibracoustic’s manufacturing site in Wuxi launched the production of air springs.
This will mark the company’s first locally produced air springs for the Chinese market, said Vibracoustic.
With the facility in Chongqing and the launch of local production of air springs, “we underline our commitment to the Chinese market, recognising its significance as an innovation hub,” said COO Axel Wersel.
Vibracoustic currently employs 1,900 people across four plants in China: two in Wuxi, one in Yantai, and one in Chongqing.
