US agency places second delivery order for ‘next-generation’ ballistic helmets
Melksham, UK – Avon Protection has received a second delivery order worth $38 million (€35 million) from the US Army under a contract initially awarded two years ago.
The new order falls under an $88-million ‘next generation integrated head protection system (IHPS) helmet contract’ awarded in September 2021, Avon said 3 July.
Avon received the first delivery order – worth $42.1 million – for the helmets in September last year, the company noted in a recent latest trading update.
Avon said it had strengthened the factories that focused on shipping the first lots of the head-protection systems to the US department of defence.
"We have a rich history of protecting US military personnel with our advanced protection solutions,” CEO Jos Sclater said 3 July.
“We look forward to working alongside our customer as they continue to develop their military capability," the Avon Protection boss added.
