Beijing – China’s Satellite Chemical is investing Yuan25.7 billion (€3.2 billion) in a major new alpha-olefin (α-olefin) project, in the Lianyungang Xuwei New District, to the east of the country.
Among other products, the planned facility will produce 2.5 million tonnes/year of light alpha-olefins and will feature five sets of 100 kilotonne per annum (ktpa) alpha-olefin plants, said Satellite Chemical in an announcement 21 June.
In addition to that, the facility is to include three sets of 200ktoa polyolefin elastomer (POE) further downstream, for applications in the automotive and electronics industries.
The company expects to complete “all kinds of procedures” over the next six months and start construction before the end of 2024.
The Satellite Chemical statement did not provide further details about the timeline of the project.
