Tokyo - Bridgestone Corp. is selling its idled truck and bus tire production facility in Huizhou, China to a local real estate company.
Bridgestone Huizhou Tire CO. (BSHZ) was shut down at the end of 2021 as part of the Japanese group’s move to consolidate TBR tire production in China.
In a statement 22 June, Bridgestone said it is now selling 100% shares of BSHZ to local real estate and property management firm, Huizhou Zhongkai Xinye Development for Yuan 285 million (€36 million).
The transaction is expected to be completed at the end of the month.
At the time closure, the facility had a nameplate capacity to produce 4,400 units of tire per day and employed 800 people.
The operation delivered losses for the three financial years of 2020 to 2022.
Bridgestone currently operates one TBR production facility in Shenyang, in northeastern China, with the capacity to produce 2,800 tires per day. The facility employs 518 people.
