Brussels – The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) has announced the appointment of Sylvie Lemoine as deputy director general.
Lemoine has been “an integral part” of its leadership team for several years in her capacity as executive director product stewardship, said the chemicals industry body.
She has made “significant contributions” in shaping strategic initiatives around sustainability, risk-management, product-safety and communication, added the 26 May announcement.
In particular, Cefic said Lemoine was “instrumental” in guiding its 'REACH dossier improvement action plan', initially published in 2019 and most recently updated in May.
The action plan aims to help Cefic members systematically review data in previously submitted REACH registration dossiers.
The new deputy director general's mandate includes leading and supporting the European chemical industry in achieving goals set out under the EU Green Deal.
“We will navigate the complexities and uncertainties, focusing on fostering innovation, responsible practices, and addressing social and environmental challenges,” said Lemoine.
