One person killed and two others injured by pipe-burst at Japanese manufacturing site
Tokyo – One person has been killed and two others were injured in a pipe-burst incident at Denka Corp.’s chloroprene rubber production facility in Omi, Japan.
The incident at the Itoigawa-shi, Niigata site occurred at 9:20 am on 14 June, during maintenance work, said a company statement.
Denka has initiated an investigation in cooperation with the local fire department, police and labour authorities.
No hazardous substances were released outside the factory premises as a result of the incident, the Japanese group stated.
Denka did not provide details about damage to facilities at the site but said it was investigating the impact of the incident on its business.
