Shin-Etsu resumes silicone product manufacturing after fire incident
Fire broke out at silicones production plant in Isobe, Gunma in late April
Tokyo – Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. has resumed operations at its manufacturing plant in Isobe, Gunma prefecture, Japan, about a month after a fire there.
The Japanese group suspended activities at the facility, which manufactures 'silicone products', following the incident on 29 April.
On 31 May, Shin-Etsu said it had restarted the plant after an order to suspend activities was lifted by the Takasaki City fire department.
One person sustained ‘minor burns’ in the incident, said Shin-Etsu, adding that the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
