Partners with agent Triskel to support programme to establish six waste tire processing facilities in five years
Worksop, UK – Carlton Forest Renewables (CFR) is eyeing the Australian market for its expansion programme, aimed at building end-of-life tire (ELT) pyrolysis plants worldwide.
The UK-based company aims to build an ELT facility in Brisbane, with five more plants to follow within five years, said CFR – announcing Triskel* as a partner to support its plans in Australia.
Under the partnership deal, Triskel will act as its agent in the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, helping establish "new ways of dealing with ELTs" in the region
According to Virginie Senbel-Lynch, managing director of Triskel, CFR is offering "a real game-changer in the way ELTs are recovered and processed across the globe.”
A particular driver for the venture is a recent ban by the Australian government on exports of ELTs from the country, explained CFR's 7 June statement.
Part of the UK logistics and warehousing specialist Carlton Forest Group, CFR currently operates a €5.8-million tire pyrolysis plant in Worksop, England.
The facility has the capacity to recover over 1.8 million tires from the country's estimated total arisings of 57 million ELTs per year.
The partnership will showcase CFR's tire recycling capabilities and the value of the recovered carbon black and oil generated by the pyrolysis process.
“This is a huge step forward for us," said Carlton Forest Group CEO Mark Pepper, CEO, adding that Triskel "share our vision for a circular approach to tire recovery and recycling."
“Using pyrolysis to deal with ELTs is still a relatively untapped market, but... one of the most viable tire disposal solutions available to the Australian market,” Pepper added.
*CFR's announcement did not include details about Triskel, though online information indicates that it is an Austrialia-based 'technology integrator' focused on the circular economy.
