Trade agency grants more time for ‘meaningful observations and evidence to be submitted’
London – The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has ‘selectively’ extended the submission deadline for its review of import duties on Chinese truck & bus tires.
The deadline for the submission of “pre-sampling forms” has now been set for 29 May for the members of the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA), as opposed to the initial 18 May date announced earlier in the month.
The TRA launched two transition reviews into anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duties on Chinese truck and bus tires on 3 May, giving a two-week window for input.
The NTDA, however, urged the government to extend the deadline so that members can provide “meaningful observations and evidence.”
The extension request was partly due to an extra UK bank holiday 8 May, to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, which according to NTDA disrupted the normal workflow of many businesses.
“Given the complexity and nature of the international tire industry, many of our members said that additional time was needed,” according to a 19 May NTDA statement.
“We now strongly urge manufacturers, importers and wholesalers who will be affected by the outcomes of the review… to engage,” it added.
In a statement provided to ERJ, the TRA said it could extend deadlines for specific organisations if they request it due to particular circumstances.
