Electric vehicle tire features 'PeakLife' technology said to enhance wear-resistance
Long Beach, California – Bridgestone Americas has launched the group’s first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) replacement tire with the new Turanza EV grand touring.
Debuting on the tire is “PeakLife”, described as a “next-generation” polymer technology that can enhance the wear-resistance of tires.
PeakLife technology, according to Bridgestone, creates “an extensive network of unique bonds between the innovative polymer and reinforcing particles.”
This allows the tread on the tires to last longer, the tire maker, adding that the technology also lowers rolling resistance compared to conventional compounds.
Further features include the use of Bridgestone's Enliten technology and the potential to incorporate various levels of recycled and renewable materials.
Furthermore, the product employs QuietTrack technology to reduce road noise and is ‘wet road ready’ – with wet braking “on par" with selected leading OE touring tires.
The Turanza EV, stated Bridgestone, provides long mileage range per charge, extends energy efficiency and comes with a 50,000-mile limited warranty.
The tire is being initially supplied in North America in five sizes, including fitments on Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model X, Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
In early 2024, the Bridgestone envisages the introduction of 13 additional product sizes, according to its 19 May press announcement.
