Laura Sommer tasked to develop a “comprehensive strategy” for German materials company
Neuburg, Germany – Hoffmann Mineral has appointed Laura Sommer to the newly created role of sustainability manager, the company has recently announced.
Sommer has a remit to lead the development of a "comprehensive strategy" to enhance sustainability at the German manufacturer of functional fillers.
The initial objectives of the plan will address the issues of supply-chain, the environment, and product portfolio, said Hoffmann Mineral.
Explaining the process, Sommer, who has been in charge since the beginning of the year, said the plan aimed to create product-specific life cycle assessments.
The assessments will help improve the energy use, resource use, and emissions of products and their associated processes, she explained.
As part of this, Hoffmann Mineral has been sending a sustainability questionnaire to suppliers regarding social and environmental issues.
In addition, a newly created working group at the company is focusing on the topic of energy efficiency, the company said.
