Divestment marks final stage of major restructuring programme at the Swedish group
Hanover, Germany – Continental AG has completed the acquisition of Trelleborg Group’s printing blankets business, originally announced in November 2021.
Headquartered in Lodi Vecchio, Italy, the unit manufactures printing blankets in polymer-coated fabrics with annual sales of €120 million.
Printing blankets are used for all types of offset printing, as well as flexo and digital printing.
The acquired business also includes a carrier-sleeve product line for packaging flexo printing.
The Swedish group's exit from the printing blanket market marks the final stage in a major restructuring programme at Trelleborg.
For Continental the “strategic step” expands its range of surface solutions in the field of printing technology and increase industrial clients, the german group stated 3 May.
“This move pools our collective expertise, allowing customers to benefit from impressive capabilities and an even broader global presence,” said Sven Hlywiak, heads of ContiTech’s non-auto surface solutions unit.
Following the acquisition, Dario Porta, president of Trelleborg printing solutions will continue his role at the business unit.
The acquired operation has 600 employees at eight locations – in Italy (two), France, Slovenia, the US, Brazil, Japan and China.
