FFKM components facility to ease supply-chain pressures on semiconductor industry, says US manufacturer
Lansdale, Pennsylvania – Greene Tweed is investing in a new elastomer seals manufacturing facility in South Korea, the company has announced.
A ground-breaking ceremony for the facility, at Cheongju-si is planned for June, the US-based components manufacturer said 28 April.
Set for start-up in early 2024, the facility will produce “the most widely adopted and advanced elastomer seals” to support the global semiconductor industry.
Initially, the new capacity will be dedicated to Greene Tweed’s Chemraz product line, an FFKM sealing range for the semiconductor, energy and industrial markets.
Greene Tweed envisages that the facility in the central Korean region of Chungcheongbuk-do, will in future also produce other product lines.
With the new production unit, the Pennsylvania-headquartered company said it aims to improve delivery times to customers.
“Over the last few years, [addressing] instability in the global supply-chain has been every customer’s top priority,” said Thyag Sadasiwan, business unit director, Chemraz.
Key focus points of the investment, Sadasiwan went on to say, will be on technology and operational efficiency to support customers.
Greene Tweed describes Chemraz as its "highest-performing elastomer [with] temperature ratings up to 315°C and the broadest chemical resistance of any elastomeric material."
